Character: Starscream
Canon: Transformers
Version: Transformers Prime
Canon Point: After the final stand between the Autobots and the Deceptions (Season 2, Darkest hour). The Decepticons have won and have scattered the Autobots across the world and have downed their leader. After the return to New Kaon is when he somehow found himself in a strange, strange place full of doors.
Age: Thousands/Millions of years old. (the canon is rather vague on this)
Gender: Technically, male.
History: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Starscream_(WFC)
Personality:
Conniving. Cruel. Cowardly. Charming.
Lots of "c" words would describe the Decepticon's Second in Command.
Starscream is ultimately a 'Con whose looking out for himself. His treachery knows no bounds and is practically legendary to Cybertronians; and to other Decepticons especially. Power struggles between Megatron and Starscream are hardly uncommon and end more often than not with the seeker pounding dents out of his frame. But with each trip to the medbay a new plan formulates and another attempt at overthrowing his oh so glorious and mighty leader percolates. He's capable yet inept all in one little package and the outcome of his actions are a coin flip in the end. His plans more often than not backfire on him in some manner.
The Decepticon is also on the rather sadistic side. He won't hesitate to snuff out another Cybertronian's spark, blast a fleshling to smithereens (not that he's ever succeeded in that necessarily) or merely leave some nasty marks from his claws. It's no surprise that he's willing, and damn well happy, to torture another via physically or psychologically when it comes down to it. Though it's also not difficult to distract him while such events are taking place; prisoners have escaped from his captive before.
While Starscream talks big and walks proudly, he's a bloody coward with a strong flight over fight response. He'd rather live to see another day than risk being blasted to pieces or torn apart. He’s very cautious of things and knows when to be fear something. The seeker has plain, dumb luck on his side most of the time and is fortunate that he's as slippery and as fast as he is to escape most terrible fates.
The final C, for this, is charming. The mech is overall polite (to your face, usually), a natural ass kisser, and smooth and meaningful with each word he says. All of which has landed him sympathy, assistance from unlikely sources and numerous alliances to keep himself alive and with options to spare. Not to say that his charm always falls on willing ears.
Ok, for a point that isn't a word that starts with a C, Starscream has a massive ego. He believes he is the best that Cybertron and the Decepticons have to offer. That he’s the fastest, the smartest (and its unknown if he was truly a scientist in the past or not to back this evidence up in the slightest, since he was one in other canons), and truly leader material for the world they once knew and he'll defend his pride to the end. His arrogance and greed knows no bounds.
Starscream, in a nutshell is a flash bastard, a bag of angry cats, a willing pleader for his life and a mask wearing seeker that's willing to stab you in the back whenever the moment is beneficial to him.
Fears:
- Death: Possibly obvious or generic, but the seeker is terrified of being terminated or “offlined”. The mere psychological stress others have put on his being has shaped him into the ultimate coward in a life or death situation; with no thanks to Megatron or Starscream's own questionable ambitions and life choices. And from the Autobots. And humans. And whatever else can destroy a Cybertronian. Push the idea or threat of death on him enough and he'll be a crumbled mess. Since he’s been alive for millions of years being dead suddenly doesn’t sit well in his mind. Most of his fears stem back to this particular fear in some way, shape or form.
- Flightless: A fear to any flier would be to lose that ability that makes them who they are. To lose the ability of flight for a seeker is losing purpose and a unique ability that only a small portion of Cybertronians have access to. Not only does it make him vulnerable being grounded but his pride would surely take a blow from having to remain on two legs and not above everyone else where he believes he belongs.
- Intimidation: While Starscream is proud and can be an in-your-face sort of mech, he's also easily intimidated, and downright terrified, by displays of power. Or more specifically, individuals that could overpower him with a flick of the wrist and has the intent to. If such measures of intimidation were exerted towards Starscream he'd crumble in seconds and start spewing out any sort of groveling sentences he could form in spare of his own life or negotiate terms.
- Failure: Failure is NOT an option! It demonstrates his incompetence, makes his usefulness dry up and is a big blow to his self-esteem. With enough failures piled up it eventually could stem back to the fear of death. Others’ patience with him could dry up permanently and what’s to stop them from actually killing him for good?
Weaknesses:
- Deceit on the other hand: Being a master of deception should mean that he'd be able to take notice when others are pulling that card on him, right? Wrong. Starscream has had the wool pulled over his optics more times than he'd ever care to admit and ends up being the pawn in someone else's greater plan.
- Egomaniac: His egomania guides his choices in unwise and foolhardy ways. His delusions of his own greatness and superiority clouds his judgment and can get him stuck in dangerous situations.
- Wings: His wings are both an advantage and a weakness. No doubts are they his main means of escape, but they're also huge targets attached to his back with bullseyes painted on them. They're thin but large and not exactly tricky to grab a hold of in close quarters. And while it remains fanon rather than a written fact it's assumed that seeker's have very sensitive wings due the number of flight sensors being present, like tons of nerves running through them. So damage that would come to them would also be excruciating.
- Small frame: Since his build is made for flight and agility he's lacking in the strength department. He can hold his own around smaller mechs, but definitely not around others that tower over him. His smaller frame also insinuates lighter armor, thus it being thinner and more susceptible to damage.
- No sense of humor: A weakness? Maybe. Jokes cracked at his expense or the humor of others tends to not sit well with him and only tick him off which could turn him hostile in situations that definitely do not call for it. His patience with sarcasm (minus his own) and messing around at his expense are needlepoint thin. It’s not to say he doesn’t have his own, sick, twisted sense of humor here and there, but more often than not he has no patience for it.
- Robotics: Being from another planet, and a robot, his biology probably isn’t known by others. So if he becomes damaged or is in need of repairs then he’s on his own and in need of some self-remedies. He’s very squeamish about fixing himself though and has a difficult time building up the nerve.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
- Tenacious: Starscream is notoriously tenacious in his endeavors and has yet to ever give up on something that he truly desires. Failure after failure and he still has the will and enthusiasm to try go for what he wants.
- Wings/Thrusters and Transformation: On account of his seeker anatomy, he does have the ability to fly; whether that’s in his alt mode as a striker jet or even to just hover with his thrusters for short periods of time.
- Science is fun: While it’s truly unknown if Starscream was a scientists on Cybertron before the war broke out (its hinted at but never confirmed in this canon) he’s still incredibly smart with calculations, mechanics and Cybertronian biology. The guy made clones of himself out of pretty much nothing, after all.
- Tactician: Starscream is/was the air commander for the Decepticons as well as the Second in Command to their cause. Being the leader of a fleet of seekers and controlling over fliers sets him at a tactical advantage for when, how and where to strike his opponents.
- Sensors: Being a robot overall he has sensors that many would lack. Aside from the 6 main senses that organics have (and its questionable if Cybertronians have taste as a sense), they have others depending on what they are. Starscream, for example, would have flight sensors. He’s able to sense the change in wind currents, however subtle.
- Sleepless: Cybertronians don’t really need to sleep. They have moments of “recharge” to refresh their systems but otherwise he can remain alert and awake for very long periods of time. He can be knocked unconscious though and still has dreams when he is clonked out.
- Agility: Starscream is FAST! Both in and out of his jet mode he’s quick. Being as lithe as he is he can move quickly and precisely to dodge attacks and has fast reflexes. He can also run fast, if he has to resort to his base mode. His agile abilities are mostly used for running away though.
Supply List:
- Null rays: Mini-laser canons that are built into his arms. He’s only able to use them continuously for 5 straight minutes and then there’s a 3 hour recharge rate.
- Missiles: Starscream has two homing missiles, one on each arm that he can fire with the twitch of his finger like a trigger. If they manage to hit their target they will explode and cause a good chunk of damage.
- Energon: Energon is the wonder material for Cybertronians. It has many uses such as food, ammo, a power source, and their lifeblood. Without it they become lethargic and weak until their body runs dry of it, and also cannot power any weapons they possess. If humans or other organics come in contact with energon it makes them very sick and can kill them if exposed for too long.

The air was stagnant. Nothing was moving, not even the smallest of currents. Long wings twitched as the first signs of consciousness were shown from the bizarre robot on the floor. The internal scans were nearly completed and it seemed that no major damage had been taken from whatever had occurred. A raspy groan sounded from the mech as long, sharp fingers curled and dug into the floor.
Bright red optics onlined themselves as soon as the scans finished. A brief moment of static shot through them before Starscream could finally view the situation. Wood. Lots of wood. The mech pushed himself upwards onto his knees slowly, joints creaked and metal scraped on the flooring. His frame felt heavier than normal. Slow, sluggish. Clearly he was lethargic, as the scans had proved no imminent damage to his body. Still…where was he?
“This…this is not New Kaon…” The seeker’s head turned as he observed the surroundings. He’d never been in such a space before. Everything was made from or covered in wood. Shelves lined the walls and things that humans referred to as books stocked them. There was a desk, made of wood, and a chair crafted from some sort of animal skins. His lip curled back in mild disgust. Nothing was made of metal. How unsettling and completely unfamiliar.
The mech was able to pull himself to his feet slowly and continued to scan the area. His coordinates system was still unable to lock onto his location. He took hesitant steps towards the desk as he replayed the moments before…this.
The final assault on the Autobots had begun. He had lead his fliers to destroy the base that the other faction called home. Everyone had been scattered and their precious leader Optimus had finally been offlined. Starscream recalled the victory. Standing on the fallen base with Megatron as fires from the debris rose around them. Not fazed in the slightest they laughed at the expense of their enemies. So what had happened after that? He briefly recalled returning to the Decepticon base…and then nothing. Falling. And then regaining consciousness.
All he had to do comm link his comrades and--- a low growl came from the seeker. His communications system was down. Of course. He slammed his fist down onto the hardwood desk and glared up at the portraits around him. Humans. Humans were in the paintings. Why would he be in a room filled with such things? Perhaps a dream? Was someone messing with him?
“What the frag is going on!?” He abruptly yelled up towards one of the portraits. The cold eyes of the man didn’t give him any solace or answers, only a chill through his wings.
He had to figure this out on his own.
